BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys bowling team advanced to the M.H.S.A.A. Division Two state finals on Friday with a second place finish in the regional tournament at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo.
Jackson Northwest won the regional title with a total pinfall of 3,951. Coldwater was second with 3,722 as they beat out Charlotte for the regional runner up spot by 112 pins.
The top two teams in each region as well as the top ten individuals advance to the state finals.
Coldwater’s Chase Rubley advanced to the individual state finals with a ninth place finish. He rolled games of 173, 195, 216 and 211 for a four game total of 795. Only five pins separated the ninth, tenth and 11th place finishers.
Quincy finished ninth in the Division Three regional tournament in Niles but the Orioles Brandt Neely won a regional title and advanced to the state finals as an individual. Neely had games of 179, 277, 181 and 244 for a four game total of 881 which was good enough to win the title by seven pins.
Bronson finished sixth in the Division Four regional tournament at Jax 60 Lanes in Jackson. Phoenix Haviland was the top finisher for Bronson as was 13th with a high game of 207. He missed qualifying for the state finals as an individual by nine pins.
