BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – After winning 11 of their first 12 games, the Coldwater Cardinals will take a three game losing streak into the Division One boys basketball district tournament next week in Sturgis.
The Cardinals dropped their regular season finale to the Harper Creek Beavers 55-41 on Friday night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Coldwater had a tough night as they only shot 28 percent from floor and were 10-of-25 from the foul line. Harper Creek also had a 45-34 edge in rebounds. The two teams combined for 34 turnovers, 26 missed foul shots and 44 fouls.
Lu Lebron led Coldwater with 10 points while Nate Tappenden had seven rebounds. Bobby Webb scored a game high 11 points for the Beavers.
Senior Night ceremonies at halftime honored seniors from both schools and their parents.

Elsewhere in Branch County boys basketball on Friday night, Bronson also had a rough night at home as they lost to the Jonesville Comets 59-40 in their regular season finale. The Comets led 33-16 at the half and were up by 22 points entering the last quarter. Mason Harris led the Vikings with eight points while Reagan Mayer had five rebounds.
Quincy dropped a 42-40 home court decision to Concord. Quincy was led on the night by Kyler Economou, who poured in 21 points, snagged 5 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists. Kyle Rodesiler netted 8 points, hauled down 10 rebounds, and handed out 4 assists.
Union City defeated Burr Oak 46-42.
