BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Bronson qualified for the M.H.S.A.A. Division Four Girls Bowling State Finals on Saturday at Jax 60 Lanes in Jackson by finishing second in their regional tournament but Coldwater and Quincy just missed advancing to next weekend.
The top two teams and top ten individuals in the regional tournaments advance to the state finals next weekend.
Coldwater was third in the Division Two regional held at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo. Mason won the regional title with a total pinfall of 3,867 followed by Charlotte with 3,617 and Coldwater with 3,460. Coldwater’s Rilee Cooper-Lewis earned a trip to the State Individual Finals with a fourth place finish. She had games of 166, 215, 235 and 210 for a four game total of 826.
Quincy finished third at the Division Three Girls Team Bowling Regional meet hosted by Joey Armadillos in Niles. Hillsdale finished first with a pin fall total of 3,451. Jonesville was second with 3,435 and the Orioles were third with 3,389, 46 pins out of a state final berth. Carlie McKinley was the top finisher for Quincy as she was 12th with games of 126, 224, 160 and 205 for a four game total of 715. She missed qualifying for the state finals by 13 pins. Peran Reif was 13th with a 713 series.
Bronson beat Pittsford by 36 pins to earn the second and final transfer spot to the State Division Four Girls Bowling Team Finals. Hanover-Horton won the regional title with a total pin fall of 3,172 followed by Bronson with 3,144 and Pittsford with 3,108. The Vikings will also send two bowlers to the state individual finals. Idalia Hernandez was fifth with games of 156, 200, 180 and 155 for a four game total of 691. Savanna Taylor was ninth with games of 158, 164, 174 and 163 for a series total of 659.
