COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police have released the name of the Riverview man who was struck and killed Monday afternoon on southbound I-69 near the Jonesville Road exit.
67-year-old James Aitken lost his life in the incident.
The State Police say a maintenance issue with his vehicle led to Aitken standing on the shoulder of the interstate when he was struck by a car hauler just after 3:00 p.m..
The accident remains under investigation but it’s not believed alcohol was a factor.
It backed up traffic on southbound I-69 for miles and clogged up nearby secondary roads as drivers had to get off the interstate at the Jonesville exit during the on scene investigation.
