BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Director of Enviromental Health Paul Andriacchi says the Bronson McDonald’s restaurant had a grease trap issue on Sunday but it was not raw sewage that was found on the floor near the food preparation area.
After being notified Monday, Andriacchi’s office investigated a complaint made by a customer who took pictures and a video. The customer felt the restaurant should have closed.
Andriacchi says a pump truck that was seen outside the restaurant by the customer was not a sewage pump truck but was instead a grease pump truck.
According to Andriacchi, when they were pumping out the grease, the grease trap backed up into the drain line pushing water and grease onto the floor.
He told WXMI Fox 17 that while there was no fecal matter, anything that backs up in a drain pipe that comes up in the facility is considered sewage.
Regardless of that, Andriacchi instructed operators of the Bronson McDonald’s that should this type of situation happen in the future, they would need to close until the situation was corrected.
