COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council decided to table the introduction of a proposed ordinance that would amend noise restrictions in the city Monday night.
City Attorney Megan Angell put together the proposed ordinance after some Coldwater residents and City Council members expressed an interest in having a noise ordinance in place.
The proposed ordinance would have expanded on the prohibitions currently in place and would be effective between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m..
There was some talk by the Council about adjusting those times. Some members expressed reservations about adding anything onto current laws during a 20 minute discussion which covered a wide scope of issues. They also felt any violation should just be a civil infraction.
Since it was tabled, it could come back before the Council at a later time if it was felt it was necessary.
