BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council Monday night approved the purchase of a water and sewer monitoring and control system which would allow staff members to switch or operate city well pumps remotely and to monitor levels in the water tower from a smart phone in case of an emergency.
City Manager Brandon Mersman said the system would allow staff to monitor equipment functions at both of the city wells, the wastewater treatment plant, and sewer lift stations.
The total cost of the system with a three year service plan is over $23,000. An ongoing grant will pay for over $8,100 of the cosrs
In other business, the City Council gave their official approval to a bid of just under $250,000 from Excell Paving Plus of Coldwater for the upcoming road construction project on Corey and Grant Streets. Mersman says a Michigan Department of Transportation grant is covering about $105,000 of the project, with the city’s total match at just over $144,000. The newly adopted budget has nearly $213,000 for major construction and rehabilitation projects.
The City Council also approved a quote of nearly $1,200 from ASI Security for the installation of two more security cameras at Greenwald Park.
