BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council will be asked Monday night to approve a bid of just under $250,000 from Excell Paving Plus of Coldwater for the upcoming road construction project on Corey and Grant Streets.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says in his report to the Council that the bid from Excell was one of three that were opened Tuesday, and it was contingent upon the City extending the substantial completion deadline of the project by two weeks to October 31, 2019. Consultants from Prien and Newhof of Kalamazoo did not have a problem with the deadline extension as asphalt is available and October temperatures should not be an issue for paving.
Mersman says a Michigan Department of Transportation grant is covering about $105,000 of the project, with the city’s total match at just over $144,000. The newly adopted budget has nearly $213,000 for major construction and rehabilitation projects.
Also on Monday’s agenda will be a request for the Bronson City Council to approve a quote of nearly $1,200 from ASI Security for the installation of two more security cameras at Greenwald Park.
This would be in addition to two cameras that were approved last month that would cover the Bronson Backyard play area.
