COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater woman who was scheduled to go on trial later this month in a child sex abuse case indicated during her final pretrial conference Monday in Branch County Circuit Court that she is going to accept a plea agreement.
26-year-old Jamie Siler of Coldwater was facing charges of second degree child abuse and child sexually abusive activity following an investigation by Michigan State Police.
A court spokesperson says she plans to enter a no contest plea to attempted second degree child abuse and that prosecutors would drop the two original charges in exchange for the plea.
The formal plea hearing has yet to been scheduled but Siler’s three day jury trial that was scheduled to start August 27, 2019 has been taken off the docket.
Siler was the girlfriend of the other suspect in the case, 24-year-old Brandon Michael Biggs.
Authorities say she did not stop Biggs from his sex crimes involving an eight year old girl, which Michigan State Police say took place over a six month period.
Biggs was ordered a year ago to serve between 79 months and 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections after he entered no contest pleas to charges of distributing and promoting child abusive material, having child sexually abusive material, and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.
Biggs also has to register as a Michigan Sex Offender.
