COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Burlington man who is facing numerous charges following a high speed police chase which started in Calhoun County and ended in Branch County’s Butler Township on July 14th has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
36-year-old Joseph Copas waived his preliminary exam which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
He is being held in the Branch County Jail without bond.
The felony counts include a pair of motor vehicle thefts as well as robbery and assault charges.
The Michigan State Police says they were checking out leads on Copas regarding multiple felony warrants and that he had been eluding police for more two weeks.
They got tips where they could find him. A trooper spotted him in a stolen vehicle which eventually led to the pursuit.
