COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A veteran Coldwater Police officer with 21 years of service was injured over the weekend during a scuffle with a man who was being served a warrant for not paying fines and costs in a previous criminal case.
Sergeant David Crilly suffered a serious ankle injury as Coldwater Police tried to place 33-year-old Seth Foltz into custody.
Branch County Prosecutors have filed four charges against Foltz for assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer. One of the counts accuses Foltz of injuring Crilly.
Foltz has a Michigan Department of Corrections record which includes home invasion and unlawful driving away of an automobile charges stemming from crimes in January of 2011.
Records indicate he was on parole at the time of the confrontation with officers after being sentenced two years ago for larceny.
Foltz was arraigned last Saturday in Branch County District Court. Bond has been set at $50,000. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for August 8 with a preliminary exam on August 14.
