COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was sentenced on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he stole a van on May first and resisted three police officers.
27-year-old Richard Barber entered no contest pleas to charges of unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and to one of the four counts of assaulting, resisting and obstructing police that were filed against him.
The other three resisting charges were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his pleas.
Barber was given a ten month jail sentence and was placed on probation for two years.
He also must wear an electronic monitor for 90 days after his release from jail. Barber was given credit for 89 days already served in jail.
