COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Men’s Mission shelter house for homeless men in Coldwater will be shutting its doors next Thursday.
The mission on Harrison Street has operated for nearly four decades as a small temporary shelter for single men who had no other alternatives for housing.
Karen Bovee has been operating the home in recent years and says she is closing the house with a heavy heart.
But Bovee says in a Facebook post that the clientele has changed in recent years.
She says alcohol and mostly drugs have taken over.
Bovee indicated that threats have been made against her and her family and she will not tolerate that.
The capacity of the house was 22 and men have been turned away recently in anticipation of the closing. Our attempts to call the Mission have been unsuccessful as the phone has been disconnected.
