COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved the terms of Terry Boguth’s contracts as Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer for the 2019-2020 school year during a special meeting Thursday night.
The action came after the board had a brief closed session with Boguth. The board gave her an overall evaluation rating of “highly effective” for the second straight school year last March and voted to extend her contract at that time to June 30, 2022.
Boguth has been the Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent since August 2015.
Also on Thursday night, the board formally adopted the district’s 2019-2020 budgets after passing amendments to the 2018-2019 spending plan.
Boguth said the millage rate on four outstanding bonds will decrease from 2.99 to 2.7 after a recalculation of the district’s debt.
She expects the millage rate will probably be lowered again next year.
Boguth said they don’t have their per pupil formula yet from the state as a budget for the next fiscal year has not been adopted yet in Lansing.
She has been told it should be ready by the time the students return to school in August. The continuing debate over road funding between the Governor and state legislators is seen as the main reason why a state budget is not ready yet.
