COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority gave Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden permission Wednesday to spend up to $3,000 from the general downtown maintenance fund for the installation of street front bike racks in the downtown area.
She said with the nicer weather, there has been more bike traffic in the downtown area.
Tappenden added it was important to make downtown welcoming to its cyclists. She pointed out in her letter to the board that cyclists are not only shoppers and diners, they also represent a portion of the downtown workforce.
Tappenden estimated a need for six of the street front bike racks and reviewed a number of styles with the D.D.A. board.
No exact locations have been selected yet but Tappenden said some building owners have asked them to install the racks.
