COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The former site of Lefty’s Lounge at 10 South Monroe will be one of three tax foreclosed properties that the City of Coldwater will purchase from the State of Michigan following action by the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
The state’s treasury department annually makes tax foreclosed properties available to local municipal governments prior to public auction.
Lefty’s purchase price was $19,000 after it closed almost three years ago. City Planner Dean Walrack said a problem with the legal description caused the property tax bill to go up.
Mayor Tom Kramer hopes the old Lefty’s location will be part of the downtown revitalization efforts.
The Council also decided to pursue buying foreclosed properties at 25 Munson and 55 East Park from the state. The total price of the three parcels came to $32,200.
They took a pass on three properties offered by the state which are located at 106 North Hanchett, 134 Grand, and 49 West Montgomery.
