COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Hillsdale County woman was formally charged on Monday following a weekend high speed chase on the I-69 Business Loop.
34-year-old Erin Nicole Peet of Reading Township was charged with third degree fleeing from a police officer; assaulting, resisting and obstructing as well as receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
She was also expected to face charges in the same case in Hillsdale County.
Bond was set at $35,000 during her arraignment on Monday in Branch County District Court with a probable cause hearing set for July 3 and a preliminary exam scheduled for July 9, 2019.
According to Coldwater Police, the incident began Saturday night at an Allen Township residence when Peet allegedly went into a man’s home. The occupant confronted Peet, who authorities say then spotted a set of car keys on a table, ran out of the house, and stole the man’s 2016 Jeep Wrangler.
The pursuit ended when the suspect lost control of the vehicle on a curve and came to a stop on the lawn of a car repair business after it had been seen by officers going at a high rate of speed on the I-69 Business Loop.
