COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – More rain fell Thursday and for those who are wondering if summer will ever get here, yet even more rain is in the forecast.
The Michigan State University Extension rain gauge at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater measured 1.18 inches of rain for Thursday, which brought the June rainfall total up to 4.43 inches. Since April first, the rain gauge has measured 12.75 inches of rain.
It has now rained seven out of the last eight days in Coldwater.
A Flash Flood Watch for Branch and surrounding counties was lifted at midday Thursday by the National Weather Service.
Both Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties remain under a Flood Advisory until late Friday morning.
There were numerous reports on Thursday of closed roads in Kalamazoo, Ingham, and Eaton Counties as a result of three to five inches of rain that fell during a 24 hour period that ended at noon Thursday.
Police has reported some of these roads have since reopened.
The rain was heavy enough to cause flooding at Western Michigan University’s Waldo Stadium and bring down an overhead canopy at the Mendon Shell Station.
Some homes in Vicksburg still had water in their basements Thursday night.
After a dry Friday, the forecast says there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday with a better chance of rain Sunday and Monday.
Coldwater has received rain on eight of the last ten Sundays.
