QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Village Council approved a resolution Tuesday night which allows the village to apply for a $37,500 grant from USDA-Rural Development for the Market 1858 project.
Village Manager Eric Zuzga says the funds will allow the construction of six small buildings in the northeast block of downtown Quincy to help start-up businesses.
The Market 1858 project is named after the year the village was founded.
The project costs just over $97,000. The village contribution is $23,500.
It will include up to seven pop-up retail market buildings and four to six larger commercial buildings
The Council also approved the 2019 millage rate of 16.1095 which is a reduction from 16.1581 mills in 2018. This was due to a Headlee Rollback.
