PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An adult foster care home in Portage has had its license suspended and the owner has been arrested. It stems from the alleged abuse of an elderly resident that was captured on cell phone video.
According to investigators, a neighbor spotted the owner of Aina Acres, located on Mt. Vernon Ave., aggressively pulling a 71-year-old resident out of a van and into a wheelchair on Friday, March 19th. Then while moving them from the parking lot to the home, Adebiyi Aina is said to have struck the resident several times, including once in the head.
That resident reportedly ended up in the hospital after police responded to the home. Meanwhile, Aini, in an interview with a reporter from WWMT, says he did nothing wrong.
“I was trying to get him out the van, it wasn’t anything malicious and I was trying to get him in the house as quickly and safely as possible,” Aina told us when we encountered him outside the Portage adult foster care facility.@wwmtnews pic.twitter.com/tLejXDBubF

Portage police say they are reviewing the case and the cell phone video, which people who have seen it call “shocking”. Aina could be facing several charges in the incident.
