BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Larry McConn was chosen as the new Mayor of Bronson during Monday night’s Bronson City Council meeting while Jim Kenny was chosen as Vice-Mayor, a position that McConn previously held.
The City Council had to select a new mayor as Alicia Cole had to resign because she moved outside of the city. She has been the Mayor of Bronson for over five years. She became Mayor in January 2014 when her father Tom Rissman passed away.
Rick Johannes was appointed as Cole’s replacement on the Council. He was one of two persons interviewed after they expressed an interest in serving.
In other business, the Council decided not to pursue building a new water tower after reviewing 20, 30 and 40 year loan repayment projection numbers. Instead, they decided to make repairs to the current water tower. City Manager Brandon Mersman said Pittsburg Tank and Tower estimated an interior recoating of Bronson’s water tower which was built in 1960 would cost just under $65,000 which would give the tower an additional 15-20 years of service.
