COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 2021 girls softball season got off to a rough start for the Coldwater Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon as they dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Three Rivers by scores of 18-1 and 13-7.
While the Cardinals only collected one hit in the opener, Kali Heivilin led a 17 hit Wildcat attack with four hits including a home and two triples. She also drove in six runs.
The Cardinals were able to generate some offense in the nightcap but they could not overcome eight errors.
Coldwater’s Brooklyn Cary had three hits including a triple and two RBIS’s. Mia Rzepka had two hits including a double and drove in two runs.
The Cardinals next see action after spring break on April 13.
