COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was given a six month jail sentence and was placed on probation for 18 months Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to being in possession of less than 25 grams of a controlled substance.
25-year-old Zachary Lee Otis was arrested in front of a home on Jackson Street by Coldwater Police last October. In exchange for his plea, charges of evidence tampering and possession of methamphetamine were dismissed. Otis was given credit for 32 days already served in jail.
Otis has been charged in another case after he was arrested by Coldwater Police May 17, 2019 for allegedly being in possession of methamphetamine in Waterworks Park. He was also charged with violating terms of his conditional release.
A preliminary exam in Branch County District Court on the latest case was scheduled for Tuesday.
