COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater’s season ended Saturday when they lost to Marshall 7-4 in the Division Two District semifinals at Lowe Field.
The Cardinals had a 3-2 lead before Marshall took the lead with a three run fourth and added two more runs in the sixth for insurance. Austin Roby drove in three runs for the Cardinals as they finished 14-21.
Marshall defeated Pennfield for the district title 8-7 in a game that was delayed twice by lightning in the area. The Red Hawks advanced to a regional game at Lowe Field on Wednesday night against the winner of the South Haven District which was postponed until Monday because of Saturday’s storms.
Bronson captured a Division Three district title at Union City as they defeated Galesburg-Augusta 9-2 in the semifinals and Delton Kellogg 11-1 in the finals. The Vikings collected 29 hits in the two games. Brett Sikorski had four hits against Galesburg-Augusta while Hudson Wotta drove in three runs. Sikorski was also the winning pitcher as he struck out eight in four innings of work.
Bronson scored six in the last of the sixth against Delton-Kellogg to wrap up the district title. Wotta had three hits including a homer and four RBI’s. Ryan Wisman also had three hits. Winning pitcher Kameron Haviland struck out nine in five innings.
Delton-Kellogg got to the district championship game by defeating Union City 2-1 as the Chargers bowed out at 14-16.
The Vikings have now won 14 out of their last 17 games. They will be back at Alumni Field Wednesday to take on the winner of the Bloomingdale district tournament which was postponed to Monday because of Saturday’s stormy weather.
Quincy was knocked out by Jonesville 11-4 in the semifinals of the Division Three districts at Hanover-Horton. Homer won the district title with a 11-1 win over Jonesville.
