COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In the first 25 years of the Great Hospice Duck Race in Coldwater, over $700,000 was raised to donate to the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital hospice program. Thousands more was raised Saturday during the 26th annual event.
Around 3,300 small rubber ducks were raced down the Sauk River, with help from Ducks Unlimited volunteers, after being dumped into the water off the bridge on Sprague Street. The first duck across the finish line was purchased by Kim Bystry, who won $2,019 donated by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Laurie and Jim Stout, who’s band provided the musical entertainment for the day, won the second prize of a camping adventure donated by Haylett RV Supercenter and Waffle Farm Campground. The next three finishers were Connie Dykman, Isayana Gallegos, and Ame McManamey.
