COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater Township couple who are facing second degree child abuse charges have had their cases bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
33-year-old Allen Nagle is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference June 10, while a pre-trial conference for 24-year-old Cortni Pitts has been scheduled for June 3, 2019.
They were arrested following a Michigan State Police investigation which according to authorities started after a then two-year-old boy was allegedly slapped in the head last October at a local restaurant for taking food off his stepsister’s plate which apparently caused the boy to suffer a fractured skull.
Troopers found the boy was malnourished and bruised when they went to the couple’s home to investigate. Three other children in the home were found to have normal body weight.
Nagle and Pitts both waived preliminary exams that were scheduled to take place Tuesday in Branch County District Court.
