BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer, Coldwater exploded for seven second half goals enroute to a 9-1 win over Battle Creek Central in the first round of the MHSAA district tournament Wednesday night.
Samantha Rodesiler had three goals and one assist, while Marissa Cox also has three goals, including the final goal with 7:47 to play, as the game ended on the mercy rule. Other goals were scored by Masyn Marsh, Madison Klotz, and Rayne Snyder, with other assists from Klotz, Anna DeMeester, Elise Leggett, Juana Mancera, Grace Ortiz, and Bridgette Meyers.
Emily Fagen and Taylor Robinson shared goalkeeper duties, with Robinson making one save, as Coldwater outshot Battle Creek Central 30-2.
The Lady Cardinals have now won four of their last six games to improve to 7-13-2 on season. They will play the winner of Friday’s Plainwell-Pennfield game in next Tuesday’s district semifinals at Plainwell at 5:00 p.m.
