KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater closed out the regular season Wednesday by losing both ends of a doubleheader at Kalamazoo Central by scores of 10-0 and 4-3.
The Maroon Giants scored six runs in the first inning to take control of the opener as Coldwater was held to two hits. Coldwater had a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning of the second game before Kalamazoo Central rallied for single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to pull out the victory. Austin Santure struck out five in five-plus innings of work while Austin Roby had two hits.
Bronson’s doubleheader at Centreville was cancelled because of rain and unplayable field conditions at both schools.
Girls Softball—
Coldwater closed out the regular season by dropping two at Kalamazoo Central by scores of 7-1 and 15-3. Jayla Foster had two hits in the second game for the Cardinals.
Bronson improved to 21-10 as they swept a doubleheader from Constantine by scores of 10-2 and 7-0. Caitlyn Hagen had three hits in the first game. Lynsey Smith, Madison Ratkowski and Dekoda Kline all had two hits. Smith was the winning pitcher.
Second game winning pitcher Aubrey Ballou tossed a two hitter. Kline led the Vikings offense with three hits including a double.
