COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was announced this week that the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities has received a first place Excellence in Safety Award and they also earned a Diamond Level designation as a Reliable Public Power Provider. The awards were announced during the American Public Power Association’s 2021 Engineering & Operations Technical Conference which was held virtually on March 23 and 24.
“Utilities that receive an APPA Safety Award have demonstrated that they have made the health and safety of their employees a core value,” said Jolene Thompson, AMP President/CEO and APPA Chair of the Board.
The CBPU was recognized for safety practices as determined by worker-hours of exposure.
The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria includes sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.
