COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater Planning Commission approved a Special Land Use Permit Monday night from an applicant who is interested in selling small lots of hardwood lumber and handmade wooden furniture.
Two Fellers Live Edge Lumber plans to operate out of the buildings at 32 and 36 East Chicago.
Members of the Planning Commission raised questions about parking and noise but next door neighbor Amy Dryer from Farmer’s Insurance said the noise should not be a problem because of the thickness of the wall between the two businesses.
City Planner Dean Walrack says in his report for Monday’s meeting that the furniture would be assembled onsite, which is a use that is not specifically identified within the zoning ordinance.
He says the applicant is seeking Special Use permission from the City for the furniture assembly portion of the operation.
