THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – A 28-year-old Kalamazoo man was taken into custody after he led police on a high speed chase Friday morning in Three Rivers.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says deputies were involved in the pursuit which started at about 6:05 a.m. after they originally tried to stop a car for speeding on Lutz Road near Fairchild Road.
The suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into the City of Three Rivers before it eventually crashed into a tree stump which was in the yard of residence.
The suspect then tried to flee on foot but was tracked to the area of Three Rivers Middle School with the assistance of Three Rivers Police K9 Django.
He was then taken into custody by a Michigan State Police Trooper. The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple charges.
