UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City dropped a 3-1 decision to Battle Creek St. Philip in a non-conference game at Alumni Field. Union City’s Kyle Johnson struck out seven in five-and-a-third innings of work.
Girls Soccer—
Jackson Northwest 3, Coldwater 1
Coldwater dropped their first round Interstate 8 Conference Silver Division Tournament game 3-1 at Jackson Northwest Friday night. The Mounties scored the first goal of the night six minutes into the game, but Coldwater answered less than three minutes later on a goal from Allison Miller, assisted by Elise Leggett. Northwest would get one more before the half, and then scored the final goal of the game eight minutes into the second half. Emily Fagen made three saves in goal, while Sydney Akers made two saves, as Coldwater fell to 1-6-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 3-12-2 overall. They will host Hastings in the final round of the I-8 tournament Monday, after playing in the Onsted Invitational Saturday. The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Jackson Northwest 2-0.
Quincy 6, Hillsdale 0
Quincy rebounded from Wednesday’s loss with a 6-0 win over the Hillsdale Hornets. Leading the night was Emily Hollenbaugh with three goals for the hat trick. Katie Rathbun had two goals and an assist. Madison Hinds had a goal and two assists. Quincy outshot Hillsdale 25 to 5.
