COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new youth baseball and softball fields at Heritage Park will take place at 12:15 p.m. Friday.
The ribbon cutting will be part of a grand opening the City of Coldsater is hosting from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Friday. The city is providing free hot dogs and lemonade.
The new ball fields on Northshore Drive were constructed because the old Little League diamonds on Western Avenue will be the future site of the new Lakeland fourth and fifth grade building.
The old Little League diamonds reverted back to the City of Coldwater in the fall of 2016 when the Coldwater Little League Board voted to dissolve. The land was later sold by the city to Coldwater Community Schools.
Ground breaking for the new school was held last month after voters in the Coldwater Community School district approved a millage and bonding proposal.
Parrish Excavating of Quincy constructed the new diamonds.
