JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school softball Tuesday, Coldwater swept an Interstate 8 Conference doubleheader at Jackson Lumen Christi by scores of 5-2 and 9-7. Jayla Foster had two hits including a solo homer in the sixth inning of the first game which snapped a 2-2 tie.
Alyssa Bach and Autumn Sunderland had doubles in the second game. Lily Gimenez and Mia Rzepka were the winning pitchers. Rzepka struck out 10 in five innings of work in the second contest.
Bronson romped to a doubleheader sweep of Homer by scores of 19-9 and 7-2. Aubrey Ballou and Lynsey Smith were the winning pitchers. Dakota Smith homered in both games and drove in seven runs in the two games including five in the first contest.
Quincy swept Springport by scores of 10-2 and 15-4. Rylei Sunday had a triple and drove in three runs in the first game. Winning pitcher Kelsey Mainstone struck out 13 batters. The Orioles offense erupted for 13 hits in the second game. Mick Signor drove in four runs while Mainstone and Megan Kirt both had three hits. Morgan Michael was the winning pitcher.
Union City swept a doubleheader from Concord by scores of 12-11 and 11-1. The Chargers rallied for seven runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning of the first game after giving up 10 runs in the fourth. Kaylee Eagen was the winning pitcher. Sydney Markley had four RBI’s while she and Quinn Adams both had three hits. Adams had three RBI’s in the second game as she was the winning pitcher.
