COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An armed robbery suspect is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Branch County District Court after he surrendered peacefully to police late Monday afternoon.
The series of events started with a report of an armed robbery on South Jefferson Street at around 4:05 p.m.
Coldwater Police, Michigan State Police and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department eventually went to a home on Peckham where it was believed the robbery suspect lived.
Police were able to talk the suspect and two other men out of the house with their hands up at about 5:45 p.m.. No shots were fired. Some neighborhood residents took to social media to say it was a scary situation.
Peckham was closed off to pedestrians and vehicles while police waited for the men to come out.
Shortly after they came out of the house, Coldwater Public Safety Deputy Director Joe Schied said the three men were considered at that time to be “persons of interest”.
The name of the man who was eventually booked at the Branch County Jail is being withheld pending his arraignment.
