GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Saturday, Bronson defeated Portland Saint Patrick 1-0 on Saturday at the Davenport University Invitational in Grand Rapids. Portland Saint Patrick was undefeated and ranked number one in the state in Division Four entering the game.
Brett Sikorksi and Kameron Haviland combined on a two-hitter. Sikorski struck out nine in four-and-two-third innings of work to get the win. Haviland struck out four in two-and-a-third innings to earn the save.
The Vikings then lost to Eaton Rapids 2-0. Brendan Withington collected three of the four hits for Bronson.
The Coldwater junior varsity baseball team swept Prarie Heights on by scores of 6-4 and 16-3. The JV team is now 14-7 on the season.
In softball, Bronson won the Olivet Extravaganza tournament title on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over the host team in the championship game. The Vikings advanced to the finals with a 7-5 win over Parma Western.
Girls Tennis—
Coldwater split their matches at the Adrian Tri-Meet. They defeated Adrian 8-0 but lost the Traverse City Central 7-1.
