COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The Branch County Board of Commissioners will be presented with a recycling proposal during their work session Thursday morning.
Branch Conservation District Executive Director Kathy Worst says through their grant partnership with Biz Aid LCC, the district is proposing the acquisition of a large piece of equipment which is capable of compacting and bailing incoming materials.
The district is seeking $14,500 in local funds for a match to a recycling infrastructure grant that is available from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, as well as a letter of community support.
Biz Aid of Coldwater has been offering a recycling collection program since 2013 that is available to all households and businesses in Branch County.
Worst says the proposed equipment is necessary to promote and grow the program. Without the equipment, Worst feels the recycling program would be in jeopardy of closing.
