ONSTED, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater boys were eighth while the girls finished sixth on Friday at the Onsted Wildcat Booster Invitational.
Coldwater’s Dylan Targgart won the discus and shot put in dominating fashion. He won the discus with a distance of 170 feet, five inches. His winning distance in the shot put was 62 feet, 11 inches. Coldwater’s Connor Hanna was third in the shot put while DeAndre Douglas was third in the pole vault.
In the girls meet, Chloe Schaale was second in the 100 and fourth in the 200, Carlee Crabtree was sixth in the 800, Madison Klotz was fifth in the 300 hurdles, Olivia Foley was third in the shot put, Ella Budd was fifth in the discus, Claire Sheppard tied for second in the pole vault while Claudia Rivera-Rodriguez was sixth in the long jump.
Several Coldwater athletes competed at the Saline Golden Triangle Meet of Champions. Their performance was highlighted by Elka Machan setting a new Coldwater High School record as she finished ninth in the 3200 and by Matt Gipple who won the boys long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 2 ½ inches. According to the meet results posted at www.athletic.net, Machan’s time was 11:06.76. The old record was Becca Schott’s 11:19.1 which was set in 2012. Gipple was also seventh in the 100 and sixth in the 200. Kyle Foulk was 13th in the boys 3200. Meanwhile, Kathy Potter was 13th in the girls 1600 and the Coldwater girls 3200 relay team of Kathy Potter, Carolyn Potter, Tyler Scheid and Machen finished sixth.
