QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – For the fourth time this season, a school record has been broken by the Quincy High School girls track team.
Madelyn Allman, Jessica Holcomb, Nikkia Cronk and Mackenzie Horsfall ran a record breaking time of 50.73 in 4X100 relay in Wednesday’s home meet against Homer and Reading. That broke the old record held by two teams. Lori Bailey, Brenda Compton, Kelli Stempien and Karice Loveberry first set the record in 1985. It was tied by Amanda May, Katie Lynch, Billie Jo Hogle and Tara Montgomery 1995.
The Quincy girls defeated Reading 114-23 and Homer 125-9. The Quincy boys also won twice as they defeated Reading 100-37 and Homer 95-42. . Individual winners for the Quincy girls were Jessica Holcomb (100 and long jump), Nikkia Cronk (200), Jillian Groves (400), Avery Rufenacht (800 and 1600), Elise Wright (3200), Madelyn Allman (100 hurdles and 300 hurdles), Sarah Bostic (shot put), Makinzie Groves (pole vault) and Emily Hollenbaugh (high jump). Quincy won all four relays in the girls meet.
Quincy winners in the boys meet were Devan Fisher (100, 200 and 400), Erik Butchart (3200), Ian Trall (110 hurdles and 300 hurdles), Evan Coon (shot put), Trey Watson (discus), Tae’Sean Bodley (high jump) and Drake Crabbs (pole vault). Quincy also won the 400 relay.
Bronson and Concord competed at Springport. Meet scores were unavailable. First place finishers for Bronson in the boys meet were Luis Ortiz (3200) and Alex VanBlarcom (110 hurdles).
Viking winners in the girls meet were Jenna Salek (200 and 400), Xochitl Garcia (3200) and Joanna Erwin (100 hurdles). Bronson finished first in the 800, 1600 and 3200 relays.
Jonesville topped the Union City boys team 85-48, and took the girls meet 80-53 over the Lady Chargers.
Union City winners in the boys meet were Gavin Hooker (100 and 200), Deacon Dey (discus), Josh Watson (high jump) and Spencer Lindsey (long jump). The Chargers won the 400 relay.
Union City winners in the girls meet were Hope Austin (100), Bracy Swift (200 and long jump) and Makenzie Canniff (pole vault). Union City won the 400 and 800 relays.
