COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two large donations will allow Beginnings Care for Life Center in Coldwater to move into a new home this summer.
A $200,000 donation from the Lucille E. Dearth Foundation and a $150,000 donation from the Clemens Foundation has allowed Beginnings Care to purchase the former Preferred Family and Women’s Care building at 16 North Clay Street owned by Dr. Jeffrey and Annette Custer. Custer moved his practice to Battle Creek in 2009, and the building has been vacant since.
According to Beginnings Care Executive Director Jane Ford, the Custers, Coldwater residents and Beginnings supporters, contributed to the effort by lowering the asking price on the building, which is 3,800 square feet on main floor, with another 3,800 square feet for storage in the basement. Their current building is in a converted home on Marshall Street.
Ford says they hope to move into the new building this summer.
Beginnings Care for Life Center provides free services to women, men and families, including pregnancy tests and confirmation, baby-care materials, parenting education, and post-abortion support.
