GIRARD, MI (WTVB) – A 27-year-old Coldwater man was taken into custody Wednesday morning for allegedly taking a van, being under the influence of a narcotic drug, and resisting officers.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says deputies were dispatched to an area near I-69 and Lutes Road just before 11:00 a.m. after a caller stated they saw a man who seemed to be very agitated, taking off his clothes.
Deputies were checking the area to locate the man when someone called in and said their white 2005 Chevrolet van had just been stolen by someone fitting the man’s description.
The van was heading west from the residence. It was eventually found in Girard with the suspect who was taken into custody.
The suspect’s name was being withheld pending his Branch County District Court arraignment. Sheriff Deputies were assisted by a Michigan Department of Natural Resources officer.
