COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man from Waterloo, Indiana who got into a fight and injured two Branch County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers last December was given a ten month jail sentence Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
39-year-old Levi Ray Barrone entered a guilty plea to a charge of assaulting and resisting a police officer. Two other counts will be dropped as part of a plea agreement.
The sentence will be consecutive to another sentence that he is already serving.
One of the officers suffered a serious knee injury in the confrontation. Barrone will have to pay restitution. The amount will be determined within the next month.
According to State of Indiana online court records, a warrant was issued by DeKalb County for Barrone after he failed to appear for a change of plea hearing in August 2018. He had been facing Indiana charges for Auto Theft and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
