COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will be two contested races for Coldwater city offices this year while three Coldwater City Council members will be running unopposed. The filing deadline for the Coldwater Mayor’s office and four City Council seats up for election this year passed at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer will be challenged for another two year term by Dan Corwin while First Ward City Council member Cisco Ortiz will be challenged by Emily Rissman.
The three City Council members facing no ballot opposition are Chris Pierce from the Second Ward, John Petzko from the Third Ward and Scott Houtz from the Fourth Ward.
The City Council seats that are up for election this year have terms that will run until 2023.
Terms for City Council members Travis Machan, James Knaack, Michael Beckwith and Randall Hazelbaker won’t expire until 2021.
The Mayor of Coldwater serves for two years while City Council members serve for four years.
The General Election will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019.
