COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A bid from Excell Paving of Coldwater for the repaving of the parking lot at the Henry L. Brown Municipal Building was approved Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
City Manager Keith Baker says the existing parking lot dates back to the original construction of the facility 18 years ago.
Excell’s bid of over $36,300 was about $1,000 higher than a bid submitted by Belson Asphalt Paving of Reading or about three percent.
Through its local preference policy, the City Council can, at its discretion, award a project to a local bidder if bids are within five percent of each other.
The project is being budgeted for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The funding would be split between the city and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities.
