TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accident involving a wrong way driver on I-69 early Friday morning.
The driver, identified as a 24-year-old man from Bellevue, was reported by multiple 911 calls just before 4:00 a.m. as traveling south on the northbound side at a high rate of speed.
Deputies found the vehicle after it crashed into a guardrail near the 26 mile marker, which is a mile north of the Tekonsha exit.
The unidentified man was taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall for treatment of his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
