COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school soccer, after a scoreless first 12 minutes in the game, Marshall score five goals before the half and rolled to an 8-0 girls varsity soccer win over Coldwater Thursday night.
The game ended with 30:52 to play in the second half on the mercy rule. Marshall outshot Coldwater 15-1, with Emily Fagen making seven saves in goal.
Coldwater is now 1-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 2-3-1 overall. They will host Grand Ledge Friday afternoon, with the JV game at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 5:00 p.m.
The Coldwater JV team fell to Marshall 5-0. They are now 1-4 on the season.
Quincy made two first half goals stand up as they defeated Jackson Christian 2-1 Thursday night. Hailey Hinds got Quincy on the board first when she was able to knock in a crossed ball from Katie Rathbun 13 minutes in the game. Quincy scored again with 18 seconds left in the half when Madison Hinds scored off the goalkeeper’s rebound.
Jackson Christian was able to cut the lead 13 minutes into the second half but the Orioles to hold on for the win as they improved to 4-2. Quincy owned a 12-10 edge in shots.
The rest of the Branch County high school sports schedule was wiped out by Thursday’s bad weather.
