ALBION, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – An Albion College student who school officials say was responsible for the racist and anti-Semitic graffiti in a stairwell at Mitchell Towers has been placed on temporary suspension.
The college posted on its Facebook page that the student acted alone and acknowledged their responsibility for these incidents.
The student was identified as a 21-year-old black man. He was immediately removed from campus while a full investigation is conducted as part of the college’s student judicial process.
The graffiti was discovered last Friday and led to three days of campus marches and boycotts of classes. Some students told WWMT-TV there have been at least three other incidents in recent weeks of racial and derogatory graffiti including drawings of swastikas.
The Albion Department of Public Safety questioned the student and later released him. A report will be turned into the Calhoun County Prosecutors Office.
