UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The process of selecting a new Superintendent in the Union City Community School District originally called for two rounds of candidate interviews to start April 29th but information has been posted on the district’s web site that the first candidate will be interviewed on Thursday.
Hillsdale I.S.D. Superintendent Ronna Steel is scheduled to be interviewed by the Union City School Board starting at 6:30 p.m..
The Michigan Leadership Institute is being used by the Union City district to help in the facilitation of the selection process. They were used by the Quincy Community School District and the Branch Intermediate School District in their recent searches for Superintendents.
According to the timeline, applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. April 12, 2019.
Candidates for the first round of interviews will be selected April 18. Those interviews have been scheduled for April 29, April 30, and May 1, 2019.
The second round of interviews has been scheduled for May 6 and May 7. It’s hoped the new Superintendent can take over July 1, 2019.
Pat Kreger is retiring after working 21 years for the Union City School District. He has served the last 12 years as superintendent.
Focus groups and an online survey were used by the Union City School Board to help in developing a candidate profile and job posting.
