STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A no-hitter by Lynsey Smith in the first game highlighted Bronson’s doubleheader sweep of Sturgis on Monday as the Vikings defeated the Trojans 10-0 in the opener and 15-0 in the nightcap.
Smith struck out eight and only walked one batter in five innings of work. Maddie Ratkowski led the offense with three singles while Jaydn Cary drove in two runs and Karissa Gest had a triple.
Addison Harris was the winning pitcher in second game. Ratkowski had three hits including a triple in the nightcap while Dekoda Kline had two doubles and Karissa Gest drove in two runs.
Bronson Coach Becky Gray said, “It was nice to see us bounce back after a poor showing on Saturday. The girls had much more intensity today and it showed in their play. It was nice to have everyone involved today and I hope the intensity continues (Tuesday) as we start league play.”
The Vikings are now 2-2 and will start Big 8 Conference play Tuesday at Springport.
