UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Wednesday, Parchment defeated Union City 8-1 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. Union City led 5-3 in the middle of the third inning of the second game when it was suspended due to darkness.
Parchment used a six run second inning to win the opener. Larson Kever had two hits for the Chargers.
On the mound, Kever struck out seven in three innings of work. Kever had two RBI’s in the second game before play was halted.
Quincy 3, Olivet 0
In girls softball, Union City was swept by Parchment by scores of 12-2 and 18-0. Autumn Carpenter had two hits for the Chargers in the opener.
Quincy split a doubleheader with Olivet. Olivet won the opener 6-0 but the Orioles took the nightcap 5-2 as they scored all of their runs in the first inning. Quincy’s Kelsie Mainstone allowed just two hits and was the winning pitcher in the nightcap
Girls Tennis—
Plainfield 7, Bronson 1
The only point for Bronson came from Ciarra Hardy at number three singles as she won her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Boys Track—
Bronson 67, Athens 61, B.C. St. Philip 31
Bronson winners were David Garcia in the 800, Taylor Hessler in the shot put, Nick Gates in the discus and Logan Fletcher in the high jump. The Vikings won the 3,200 relay.
Girls Track—
Athens 78, Bronson 54, B.C. St. Philip 31
Bronson winners were Xochitl Garcia in the 1,600 and the 3,200, Alanna Mayer in the 800 and Joanna Erwin in the 100 hurdles.
